Turn back the clock on Hair Loss
Better, Longer-lasting results with Platelet Rich Fibrin
Thinning hair and hair loss are common challenges for both men and women, often linked to aging and hormone imbalances. Platelet-rich therapies (PRP and PRF) offer a natural solution, involving a series of shallow injections into the scalp in areas of hair loss. Hair restoration is achieved by growth factors released from the platelets, which in turn increase blood flow to hair follicles, activate the growth phase (anagen), and reduce hair shedding (telogen). This method boosts hair thickness, follicle count, and overall hair health. PRP and PRF are effective for hair loss due to aging, hormonal changes, nutritional deficiencies, and chronic conditions
At FoRM Health, we’ve transitioned from using PRP to Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF) – otherwise known as PRP 2.0 – for Hair Restoration to ensure our patients receive the best, most effective hair restoration treatments available.
If you’re looking for cutting-edge, natural hair restoration in Portland, Oregon, PRF offers a powerful solution for combating hair loss due to aging, hormones, or other factors.
PRP VS PRF
Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF) is the next evolution in hair restoration, offering superior, longer-lasting results compared to traditional Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP). While both treatments are derived from your own blood to stimulate hair regrowth, PRF contains a higher concentration of growth factors and a natural fibrin matrix. This allows the PRF to encourage hair growth for a longer period of time, resulting in a healthy and fuller head of hair.
Unlike PRP, PRF does not require the addition of an anti-coagulant medication to the platelet rich solution, rendering the procedure completely natural (only your cells are used), more comfortable and even safer than PRP.
Whether you’re experiencing thinning hair or more significant hair loss, PRF can help you achieve thicker, stronger hair that lasts.
TREATMENT EXPECTATIONS
Typically a series of 3-6 monthly treatments is recommended to achieve the full benefit. The treated follicles need time to go through the normal growth phases before results are appreciated. Early signs of new growth are often visible by the 3rd session, though may take longer, depending on the individual.

FAQ
PRF contains growth factors which stimulate new cell growth within the follicle. When injected into the scalp, this effect activates the growth (anagen) phase and turns down the shedding (telogen) phase of the hair cycle. Studies have shown that PRF increases both the number of active follicles as well as hair thickness.
At the beginning of the visit, a small amount of blood, is drawn from the patient. As the PRF is processed in the centrifuge, pictures are taken, followed by a cleansing preparation of the scalp. PRF is then injected just under the skin with very fine needles in the targeted areas.
Does this procedure hurt?
Without the need for an anti-coagulant added to the solution, PRF is generally well-tolerated by most people. For additional comfort, we place a vibrating device on your scalp during the procedure to distract your brain from the injections. Mild soreness in the treated area may linger for 1-2 days following the procedure. Although often unnecessary, Tylenol can be used after the procedure to address lingering discomfort.
PRF Hair Restoration is a safe and effective option for most patients with thinning hair and hair loss. The treatment is most effective for those with diffuse thinning, early balding, and receding hair-lines. PRF Hair Restoration is often effective for those suffering from alopecia areata, as a cause of hair loss.
The recommended course of treatment includes 3-6 treatments spaced 4 weeks apart. A maintenance treatment is recommended every 6 months.
Result timing varies. Some individuals will notice a decline in shedding after 1 treatment, resulting in a fuller head of hair. However new growth isn’t appreciated until after the 2nd/3rd treatment. Peak results occur 6-9 months following the initial treatment and last for 6-12 months.
Cost of treatment is $550/ procedure. Packages of 3 are discounted by 10%, packages of 6 are discounted by 20%.
Yes, there are several small scale studies on PRF for Hair Regeneration that suggest that PRF is effective and safe for hair growth. Many of our patients report satisfaction with the results. Considering its excellent safety profile and relatively low cost, PRF hair treatment is a promising treatment option for patients with thinning hair.
