Schedule with Hilary
Hilary works with her patients on a range of health complaints, including acute and chronic pain, anxiety and depression, digestive issues, menstrual irregularities, infertility, and other hormonal imbalances. At the root of her treatments is a desire to help her patients simplify and find a healthy, sustainable balance within their busy lives. She focuses on giving her patients tools to counteract the challenges and stresses of daily life by creating individualized, well rounded treatment plans that may include acupuncture, dry needling/trigger point therapy, gua sha, cupping, nutritional therapy, lifestyle modifications, and Chinese herbal medicine.
She is very excited to welcome infants, toddlers, children and teenagers into her practice, as she believes treating young people will set them up for a long, healthy, well balanced life. Her treatments with children include the use of tui na, suction cups, shonishin, herbal formulas, and of course, acupuncture if they are ready for it!
Hilary’s interest in holistic health began as a young girl, growing medicinal herbs with her mom in their garden. Since then, plant medicine as well as self sufficiency have been driving factors in her life path. After studying sustainable agriculture and natural history at UC Santa Cruz, she worked on organic family farms in Costa Rica, New Mexico, Maine, and Oregon. She loved the simplicity and hard work of the farming lifestyle, but wanted to further her knowledge of alternative medicine and find a way to help people live more in balance with the rhythms of nature.
Upon starting her Master’s degree program at Five Branches University, she found that the cycles of natural ecosystems she had observed while farming aligned with the basic tenets of Chinese Medicine philosophy, and knew that this wisdom was the basis from which she wanted to practice medicine. Hilary received her Masters in Traditional Chinese Medicine from Five Branches University in Santa Cruz, California in 2015 and she has been practicing in Portland ever since, building upon that foundation with continuing education in fertility and reproductive medicine, motor points, and facial rejuvenation.
She feels immense gratitude that she gets to walk with so many people on their health journeys. She is passionate about her work, loves listening to each person’s unique story, and is constantly educating herself and pushing herself to be a better provider.
In her free time she loves to ride her bike, grow vegetables and herbs, knit socks, and go camping with her wife and their dogs.
